How is it made?

They did not originate millions of years ago deep under the earth's crust, but were created by man. How does that work? Discover the growth process of our lab diamonds.

How is a lab diamond made?

The name says it all: lab diamonds are made in a laboratory. They are created by man and not by nature. There are a few different ways to grow a lab diamond. The diamonds that we select for the Aurore jewelry all started as a very small carbon seed. We would like to show you how your diamond ultimately comes into being from this.

Lab grown diamant CVD methode
- Method 1 -

CVD method

In this method, the diamond seeds are placed in a CVD reactor. Then a combination of carbon gases is added at a very low pressure.
Microwaves cause these gases to heat up, creating a plasma. When the temperature rises to over 1000 degrees, the gas molecules break apart and the rapeseed atoms bind to the diamond seeds, causing the rough diamond to grow layer by layer.

- METHOD 2 -

HPHT METHOD

HPHT stands for ' high pressure high temperature'.

This method mimics the natural conditions under which diamonds grow in nature. Large mechanical presses are used to apply extreme pressure and temperature to the diamond seed. Here too, a rough diamond then grows layer by layer.

From rough diamond to luxury jewelry
